Our program provides an opportunity for candidates to continue their growth as disciples of Jesus. While preparing to receive this sacrament, confirmandi will engage in small group discussions, community service, and will hear from fellow Christians who witness to the faith. Students in Grade 9 are considered Confirmation I. Students in Grade 10 are Confirmation II and receive this special sacrament in the Spring. The Diocese assigns our parish to a mulitparish confirmtion that takes place at St Paul Cathedral in April or May.
While 9th grade students who attend a Catholic high school do NOT need to attend separate confirmation classes, 10th grade confirmation candidates DO regardless of their high school.
A few notes about sacramental years...
If your child attends a Catholic school, they do NOT need to attend religious education at St George UNLESS it is a sacramental year. For example, if your child is in 2nd grade, and they will be making their 1st Communion this year, they WILL need to attend religious education regardless of their school. In terms of confirmation, students need to attend Confirmation I, which is typically in 9th grade, BEFORE they can move onto then Confirmation II the next year UNLESS they attend a Catholic For example, if you attend Notre Dame for 9th grade, you would NOT need to attend Confirmation I at St George. In that case you would jump into Confirmation II in 10th grade.
